In September of 2017, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) held its annual basketball tournament on the fabled parquet floor of the Boston Garden. The event is co-hosted by current Boston Celtics’ coach Brad Stevens and Los Angeles Clippers’ coach, and future hall-of-famer, Doc Rivers. Anthem President, Chris Sinclair, is the Hoop Dreams chair and helps spearhead strategic growth, as well as fundraising and operational advisement.
It is a rarity to have two of the best coaches in any sport together for an event. However, both coaches strongly support the great work done at ABCD. Hoop Dreams raises funds and resources for WorkSMART; a program dedicated to giving at-risk teens a support system to help keep them in school and provide them with paid work experience that paves the way to higher education and careers.
Following the conclusion of the on the court action, the teams are invited to join Brad, Doc and other special guests at the VIP Post Game Party for a dinner and Q&A session, which is hosted by renown sports writer, Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe.
The entire Anthem team looks forward to continuing to make Hoop Dreams grow and increase its stature among the premier charity basketball tournaments in the world.
